A Delegation from the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases Visits Al-Managil Center as Part of Ongoing Joint Development Efforts
A delegation from the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases visited Sheikh Abdelmonem Mousa Abu-Dreirah Complex for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases, Endoscopy, and Schistosomiasis Research Center. This visit follows a previous visit conducted in 2023 and comes as part of the National Center’s ongoing efforts to develop gastrointestinal and liver disease services across Sudan.
The visit aimed to follow up on the preparations for upgrading the endoscopy unit at Al-Managil Teaching Hospital and transforming it into a fully integrated center for gastrointestinal and liver diseases, thereby enhancing diagnostic and therapeutic services in the region.
The delegation reviewed the commendable efforts led by gastroenterology consultants Dr. Mustafa Awaj Al-Darb, Dr. Awadallah, and Dr. Osama Al-Zubair in delivering gastrointestinal services and implementing the development plan of Sheikh Abdelmonem Mousa Abu-Dreirah Complex for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases, Endoscopy, and the Schistosomiasis Research Center. These efforts are supported through the generous contribution of philanthropist Mr. Abdelmonem Abu Dreirah, who donated the establishment of the center within Al-Managil Teaching Hospital.
During the visit, the delegation also met with the Director of Al-Managil Teaching Hospital, representatives of the health affairs department, and several consultants from various specialties, all of whom expressed their full support for the establishment of the center.
The delegation from the National Center affirmed that it will support the project by providing modern medical equipment through the Federal Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance and National Economy. It also noted that procedures for signing the contract to procure gastrointestinal endoscopy equipment have been completed, with delivery and operation expected before the completion of the new center buildings.
These steps come within the framework of the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases’ efforts to expand its specialized services and localize treatment within Sudan, thereby strengthening training opportunities, capacity building, and the provision of advanced healthcare services for all citizens.
