On this day, under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Health, the first liver transplantation was performed in a Sudanese governmental hospital. The success of the first liver transplantation was the result of 10 years of planning, perseverance, and sacrifices by the young cadres of our Center,, with significant support from successive Ministry of Health administrations since 2013, contributing to the success of first liver transplantation , under the supervision and significant support of Dr. Haitham Awadallah, the current Federal Minister of Health.
On this day, we salute everyone who contributed to the success of this project, and a special salute to Mr. Mohammed Saleh Idris and his family, who gifted this project with a building designed to international standards . We also salute Rela Hospital in India, led by Professor Mohammed Shamsuddin Rela, for their support of the project.
We extend our greetings and gratitude to the entire medical and administrative staff at the National Center for Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases and the liver transplant team. We are confident that this project will not stop and that these cadres will respond to the call of the homeland whenever required. Our greetings and appreciation go to the Sudanese people for their celebration at the success of the first liver transplantation on that day.
