A delegation from the Gastroenterology Advisory Council, the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases, and the Federal Ministry of Health arrived in Al-Fasher with the aim of localizing gastroenterology and liver services in the states. The delegation’s visit focused on four main areas:
1️⃣ First Area:
A supervisory visit with support provided to the Sulaiman Fadiel Gastroenterology Endoscopy Center at Al-Fasher Hospital, and the establishment of a regional gastroenterology center covering western Sudan, providing services and training medical staff.
2️⃣ Second Area:
Inauguration of the Voluntary Hepatitis B Screening and Vaccination Center at the Awad Allah Center, which will continue to provide permanent services. The center will offer screening and treatment for patients with viral hepatitis.
3️⃣ Third Area:
Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgery – Restarting the endoscopic gastrointestinal surgery service, which had been inactive in Al-Fasher since 2010.
4️⃣ Fourth Area:
Ultrasound Workshop held from November 10–12, 2022, with the participation of 40 physicians specializing in internal medicine and surgery, providing hands-on training in ultrasound techniques.
