As part of the efforts of the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases to develop medical staff and expand international partnerships, Professor Dr. Abdelmonem El-Tayeb, Director General of the Center, concluded a successful official visit to the People’s Republic of China, during which several significant outcomes were achieved.
The visit began at Zhongshan Hospital, affiliated with Fudan University, which houses one of the largest advanced endoscopy centers in the world, performing more than 950 advanced gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures daily.
Professor Dr. Abdelmonem El-Tayeb participated in an intensive ten-day training program that included hands-on training in the latest endoscopic techniques using electronic simulators and anesthetized animal models, in addition to specialized lectures delivered by world-renowned experts. The program also included live observation of advanced endoscopic interventions, either inside the operating rooms or via live broadcast to lecture halls.
The visit also included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Professor Zhou, Head of the Endoscopy Department, covering cooperation in training Sudanese medical staff, coordination in scientific research, and the implementation of an intensive training program that includes sending two batches of Sudanese gastroenterology consultants for advanced endoscopy training.
This program is supported by Aohua Company and its authorized agent in Sudan, Tabashir Company. The first training course is scheduled to begin in August, with the participation of three doctors from Sudan.
