Dr. Abdelmonem Al-Tayeb Abdo Serves as External Examiner for the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship in Rwanda
In a step reflecting regional recognition and Sudanese scientific expertise in gastroenterology, Dr. Abdelmonem Al-Tayeb Abdo – Consultant in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy and Director of the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases – participated as an external examiner in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship exam at the University of Rwanda for the 2024–2025 academic year.
The exam was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and the Head of the Research Department at the University of Rwanda, underscoring the significance of this event and its role in supporting advanced specialty programs across Africa.
Dr. Abdelmonem praised the high scientific and technical level demonstrated by the candidates, as well as the strong institutional support provided by the university for this program, noting that investing in specialized capacity building is a cornerstone for developing the healthcare sector across the continent.
This appointment highlights the growing role of the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases in supporting regional academic initiatives and expanding medical collaboration between Sudan and African countries, contributing to the training of qualified professionals and the localization of advanced specialties that meet the continent’s increasing healthcare needs.
