The Director of the National Center for Gastroenterology and Hepatology conducted a field visit to the Kosti Center for Gastroenterology and Hepatology, where he met with the Director General of the Ministry of Health in White Nile State, Dr. Mohamed Toum, the Director of the Gastroenterology Center in Kosti, and Dr. Hala, a Gastroenterology Specialist.
During the visit, discussions focused on activating the Gastrointestinal and Liver Endoscopy Unit and strengthening its diagnostic and therapeutic services.
The Director of the National Center for Gastroenterology and Hepatology confirmed the arrival of a new endoscopy unit following the completion of procurement procedures through the Federal Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance and National Economy. He also commended the center’s role in supporting gastroenterology services and advancing training programs.
He further emphasized the center’s commitment to a maintenance and rehabilitation plan for the unit, supported generously by the people of Kosti City residing in the State of Michigan, USA.
For his part, the Director General of the Ministry of Health in White Nile State affirmed his full support, as well as the support of the state government, for the center’s efforts. He announced approval to upgrade the Endoscopy Unit to a Gastroenterology Department at Kosti Hospital, in addition to developing a future plan to establish a specialized gastroenterology center and allocate a suitable site for it within Kosti City.
The Director General also praised the significant role played by the people of Kosti living abroad, calling for continued support—particularly for intensive care services, which require sustained resources to ensure continuity and stability of care.
The delegation also visited the Police Hospital in Kosti as part of strengthening institutional collaboration and expanding partnerships among healthcare facilities, with the aim of improving patient services and enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery.
