Gezira Gastroenterology Center: Renewed Resilience… and Continuity of Services in Wad Madani

With pride and determination, the Gezira Center for Gastroenterology and Endoscopic Surgery continues its mission to serve the people of Gezira State, overcoming challenges and reaffirming its commitment to providing specialized, free healthcare. Here is a summary of the center’s key achievements over the past period, with figures and details:

Reopening Achievements (Documented for March and April):

Total patients served (clinics + consultations): 108 patients

Total medical procedures (endoscopies): 41 specialized procedures (including upper and lower endoscopies, among others)

Step-by-Step Success:
1️⃣ Referral Clinics (Sundays and Wednesdays – Free of Charge)

Clinics have seen high attendance since reopening.

In the first week alone (March 16–20): 79 patients were received.

In early April (6th and 9th): an additional 29 patients were seen for consultations.

2️⃣ Diagnostic and Therapeutic Endoscopies (Mondays Weekly – Free of Charge)

Endoscopy services were successfully resumed with high efficiency.

In the recorded initial days (March 17–20): 15 precise and free endoscopic procedures were performed.

Work continued in April: 26 additional procedures were conducted (on April 7 and 10).

Efforts are ongoing to restore ERCP (biliary endoscopy) services, in which the center previously led with 375 procedures.

📊 Comprehensive Reopening Plan – Achieved and Upcoming:
Thanks to God and the dedication of the center’s team, including staff, engineers, and workers under the leadership of Dr. Salah Dafallah, Dr. Mohamed Bushra, and Dr. Mohamed Faisal, the first and second phases of the reopening plan have been successfully completed:
Phase 1: Successful reopening of referral clinics
Phase 2: Resumption of diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopies

Upcoming Phases to Ensure Comprehensive Services:
🔜 Phase 3: Reopening of 24/7 gastrointestinal bleeding emergency services
🔜 Phase 4: Resumption of GI inpatient admissions and consultations
🔜 Phase 5: Reopening of gastrointestinal surgical services

🤝 Continuous Efforts and Uninterrupted Support:

The center and its equipment are being maintained and services continuously improved.

All current services (clinics and all types of endoscopies) remain completely free of charge.
