The Undersecretary of Health Commends the Efforts of the National Center for Gastrointestinal Diseases in Localizing Services in Sudan

The Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, expressed his full support for the efforts of the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgery in localizing services within Sudan, while wishing success to the Armed Forces in reactivating the Gastroenterology Center in El Fasher, God willing.

This came during his meeting today at his office with the Director of the National Center, Dr. Abdelmonem El-Tayeb, who provided a detailed report on the Center’s performance over the past period and the continued delivery of services to patients.

The Undersecretary of Health confirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting specialized centers to ensure the continuity of free services for citizens, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive vision and fair distribution of centers. He also highlighted the importance of developing infrastructure and acquiring the necessary equipment to achieve this goal.

For his part, Dr. Abdelmonem reviewed the key outcomes of his visit to China, which included obtaining advanced training grants for medical staff, field visits to several specialized hospitals and factories, and signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties.

He also referred to the ongoing preparations to celebrate World Hepatitis Day on July 28 in Gezira State, noting that arrangements have been completed to provide eight endoscopy devices to several centers, with efforts underway to secure additional equipment in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance.

The Director of the Center called for the provision of specialized medications and laboratory tests that are currently unavailable, urging the Federal Ministry of Health to continue supporting the supply of medicines and medical consumables as part of the free treatment package funded by the Federal Ministry of Finance.
