Viral Hepatitis B Awareness Workshop: An Innovative Service by the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases in Collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization
As part of the Viral Hepatitis B Control Program, the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases organized an awareness workshop on the disease at Omdurman Maternity Hospital, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO). The workshop was held on Sunday and Tuesday, 27 and 29 November, and targeted physicians, healthcare workers, and hospital support staff.
The workshop covered essential information about Viral Hepatitis B, including modes of transmission and available treatment options.
The workshop specifically targeted physicians (consultant obstetricians and gynecologists and specialist registrars), as well as healthcare staff, including laboratory technicians, midwives, health visitors, pharmacists, psychotherapists, nurses, operating theater technicians, and hospital workers.
The workshop received strong engagement from participants, who welcomed the efforts of the National Center in raising awareness about this disease. This initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to educate the community and provide specialized healthcare services. The workshop was preceded by a successful screening and vaccination campaign conducted at the hospital in October.
