The National Centre for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases had a kind visit from professor Ahmed Abd El-Wahed and professor Uwe Truyen from Leipzig University, Germany and Professor Lonzy Ojok and professor Julius Okuni and one of their students from Makerere university, Uganda.
The visit came as part of joined research in Mycobacterium Avium Para tuberculosis subspecies in Africa which include NCGLD and Makerere University with two German universities.
The visit discussed the results of the project first part (the link of the study is below), In addition, the beginning of the second phase of the project.
In the second phase the DFG will establish the first organoid lab in the region at NCLD, the German partners will supervise and upgrade the laboratory. The partners will train the needed staff to do all the work locally.
The director of National Centre of Gastrointestinal and Liver disease Dr Abdelmonem Abdo and dr Reem Salah ( the director of the research unit ) welcomed them in Sudan and promised to give the needed support for the success of this promising project
