Visit of the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases Delegation to Atbara Gastroenterology Center

As part of ongoing efforts to improve gastroenterology services in the Nile River State, Dr. Abdelrahim Ali Daboura, Deputy Director of the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases and Consultant in Biliary and Liver Surgery, along with Dr. Ramah Hassan, Director of the Medical Administration at the Center, visited the Atbara Gastroenterology Center on Monday, October 23, 2023.

During the visit, Dr. Abdelrahim Ali Daboura met with Dr. Ahmed Ali Wahab, Acting Minister of Health of Nile River State, and Dr. Muawiya Sayed Ahmed Mohamed Al-Sheikh, Head of the Gastroenterology Department at Atbara Hospital, to discuss ways to develop gastroenterology services in the state and select the necessary medical staff.

The discussions concluded with the selection of Atbara Hospital as the primary gastroenterology center for Nile River State for the following reasons:

The availability of qualified personnel to provide services and train other staff in the state.

The ability to supervise other gastroenterology centers in Dongola, Shendi, and Merowe.

During the visit, the Deputy Director conducted an inspection tour of the Atbara Center to review the services provided. He confirmed that the center is fully operational in terms of service delivery, although it lacks some equipment, which the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases will provide as soon as possible.

On its part, the Atbara Center confirmed its readiness in terms of space and infrastructure to accommodate the center.

This visit reflects the Center’s commitment to providing the highest quality healthcare services to citizens across Sudan.
