A delegation from the National Center for Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases, headed by Dr. Abdelmounem E Abdo , Director of the National Center, paid a visit to the River Nile State. The delegation included Dr. Waleed Ahmed Ogan, Deputy Head of the Endoscopy Department, and Mohamed Jaafar, Head of the Information Technology Department.
The delegation met with Dr. Amal Ahmed Magzub, Director General of Health, Mr. Moawia Sid Ahmed, Director of the Center, Dr. Alsayad Eltayeb , and Dr. Muhand Abdelkarim
The center's director provided an overview of the national center's plan twards Nationalization of Gastroenterology services, including:
* The role of the Atbara Center in providing gastrointestinal and liver disease services in the River Nile and Northern States, with supervision over the Shandi and Dongola centers.
* Plans to build new buildings for gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery in Atbara.
* Activating the ERCP endoscopy service, which requires a c-ARM mobile X-ray machine, which has been requested from the Federal Ministry of Health.
Dr. Amal Ahmed welcomed the attendees and affirmed the state's health ministry's commitment to supporting the Atbara Center. She also announced the allocation of a plot of land to build the Atbara Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases Center.
Dr. Abdelmounem expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Health in the River Nile State and the Federal Ministry of Health for:
* Rehabilitating the surgical rooms at Atbara Hospital.
* Providing the necessary medical supplies for the endoscopy of units in Atbara, Shandi, and Dongola.
The center's delegation visited the Atbara Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases Center and delivered endoscopy accessories and liver transplant medications to 18 transplant recipients who requested medication in Atbara City according to the questionnaire dedicated to liver transplant recipients by the center's drug supply
